Your first appointment with our team is an important step toward achieving a healthy, confident smile! During your visit, our friendly team will review your medical and dental history, take any necessary X-rays, and perform a thorough exam to assess your oral health. Dr. Casteel Answers Your Questions

Children should visit the dentist by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth erupting, ideally. These early visits help your child get comfortable with our office, allow us to monitor growth and development, and provide parents helpful guidance on brushing, nutrition, and cavity prevention to build healthy habits from the start.

Most patients benefit from visiting their dentist every six months for a cleaning and exam. Regular visits help prevent plaque buildup, detect issues early, and keep your smile healthy. However, patients with gum disease, frequent cavities, or other oral health concerns may need more frequent appointments based on our recommendation.

You should schedule a dental visit if you notice tooth pain, bleeding gums, bad breath, swelling, sensitivity, or loose teeth. Other signs include jaw discomfort, mouth sores that don’t heal, or changes in how your teeth fit together. Early evaluation allows us to address concerns before they become more serious or require extensive treatment.

A family dentist provides convenient, comprehensive care for patients of all ages—children, teens, and adults alike. This means one trusted dental team can handle everything from routine cleanings to more advanced treatments. Family dentists build long-term relationships, track your family’s dental health over time, and create a comfortable, consistent experience for everyone.

Good oral care starts with brushing twice a day using fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily to remove plaque between teeth. A balanced diet, limited sugary snacks, and drinking plenty of water also support oral health. Regular dental checkups and cleanings complement your at-home care to keep your teeth and gums strong and healthy!
